Bang Bang Racing Review

Bang Bang Racing is a top down racing car game by Digital Reality

Digital Reality bring a lot of arcade games to the table nowadays and each one feels fresh and unique.  Bang Bang Racing falls into this category but also falls a little short in a couple of areas… If you are a fan of fun car racing games Bang Bang Racing is for you.

With 9 reversible tracks set in well designed locations and 20 unique vehicles there is a lot of fun to be had.

Bang Bang Racing does everything your average top down racer does but makes it feel that little better.  The visuals are very crisp, colourful and well designed, the cars sound great and feel different to the next and the gameplay is very smooth once you get the hang of it.

A problem in most of these types of games is the camera.  Most of the time in top down games you are unable to see that little bit around the corner that could help you make the perfect turn or the camera does not move fast enough at the right times.  This is not a problem in Bang Bang Racing and honestly as much as I hoped this wouldn’t be a problem I expected it so thank you DR for doing it properly….

Although the game starts you off at a pretty slow pace you soon uncover fast beasts that will challenge your abilities.  The cars are very smooth to control and with a little practice you could have some master skills burning around the tracks.

During your championship race of 3-5 laps you will encounter a few dangers on the road.  Oil spills make you slide all over the road, water slows you down and there are even a few barrels that explode when hit causing some serious damage to your vehicle.

Like any major race you’ll need a pit lane.  In Bang Bang Racing your pit lane is an extra lane that you drive through in order to repair your car and refill the boost tank.  This is a great add to this genre and is welcomed greatly by myself because it adds that competitiveness that a lot of basic driving game developers miss out.

Once again there is one thing that DR seems to let go in every release…. Online MP.

I don’t know why they do this but every game they have released has seemed perfect for cop or competitive multiplayer and never have they given it to us DR fans.

It won’t be long before people (including myself) get fed up with playing DR games if they are not going to put in that extra effort and game mode clearly wanted by fans.

Overall Bang Bang Racing is great but with the only MP option being on your couch I’m sure you will stop playing it after about a week.

7/10
