Bellator MMA Onslaught Review
Bellator MMA Onslaught is a fighting game brought to you by 345 games.
Bellator MMA offers a few different game modes. Super fight is your typical quick match, Championship road is your career and play online is what it says.
Championship road puts you up against 7 fighters and all you have to do is beat each of them… Simple…. No!!! The game is pretty tough and will even give you trouble on the easier difficulties.
The buttons are really simple which is great but to be honest most of the moves are pointless.
You can get someone on the floor but it is so easy for them to get out of any position you put them in, you may as well try to go for a submission win. Submissions are also a joke because it is all about button mashing. You may be winning the fight and then BAM, you’re on the floor smashing all your face buttons.

This is also annoying because I feel it puts you into a position where you could break your controller especially as the game it self is frustrating let alone anyone trying to get a quick cheap win.
Create a fighter could have been good but all it is, is a few faces, a few body shapes and some clothing and you have a new fighter. This was a half arsed effort and should have been left out of the final product.
You can level up your character and each time you do you are awarded points that you are able to spend on new moves or tactics. This is a great idea but I never felt that I was getting tougher each time and you can run through all of the training challenges within about 1 hour.
Your health and stamina go down very quickly. Baring I mind you’re playing as a MMA fighter you would assume that you are going to be able to do quite a lot before you start getting too tired. I threw a couple of kicks and punches and I was then knocked out due to my stamina being low.
Visually the game looks pretty sweet but is nothing special. There are many other games that are better looking and definitely more fun.
When I heard that an MMA game was coming to XBLA I was a little excited because I knew it would have simpler controls and be fast paced compared to the retail MMA releases. It’s a shame that when you look at the game as a whole it is nothing more than a rubbish version of street fighter.
