Enemy Front Review
You’re Robert Hawkins, an American fighting through Nazi controlled Europe in the height of WWII. You have the choice to take on the enemy from afar, close quarters or if you like, stealthily. You will decide on the best course of action to take and have to make it count if you are to save the world from Nazi domination.
The FPS genre has been suffering for a few years now due the lack of inspiration and guts from development studios. For some reason, developers think that the gaming community want more and more modern or future warfare games, but sadly they are mistaken. We as gamers have had more than enough modern and future war games and we’re ready for the return of WW2. And when I heard that CI Games were bringing back the WW2 FPS I was quite excited, then I put the disk in the tray of my Xbox 360 and saw what was nothing short of a shock…. The worst FPS I’ve ever seen!!!
Playing from the cliché “American” point of view, you’re battling through Nazi controlled areas to collect, kill, destroy and sneak into strongholds in order to be one step ahead of the enemy. The premise is the exact same as in any game (especially FPS) but in Enemy Front it is constantly boring, looks horrible and is generally just hideous.
The story is stale and has absolutely nothing to get you on board and gasping for more. You don’t feel any attachment to the characters or their objectives and you feel that you’re nothing more than a bit of Nazi bait for your American allies.
At best, gameplay is on par with “Hour of Victory” and if you’ve played that game, you know that I’m basically saying “You’d have more fun watching shards of grass grow”.
Visually, Enemy Front is the worst FPS game I’ve seen running on the Xbox 360 and I’m not exaggerating. The game boasts its creation on the CryEngine 3, but it most definitely doesn’t take advantage of all of its potential. I was looking around thinking “Wow, this is S**T! Do some developers not have any morals or standards with what they produce and put their name on?”. Enemy Front really doesn’t look much better than… again, “Hour of Victory”, and after seeing games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Assassin’s Creed running on the same platform, I can’t believe that Enemy Front is anything but a lazy throw out for a quick bit of cash.
Enemy Front is the worst FPS I’ve ever played in every aspect. It looks horrible, plays horrible and tries to tell an amazing story and totally craps on it. There is absolutely no way that anyone should waste their time playing this game. Be heard…. We gamers deserve better than this.
