Fable heroes Review
Fable Heroes is a four player competitive co - operative side-scroller by Lionhead Studios.
Story
I’m not sure there is much of a story where Fable Heroes is involved. I would say that Fable Heroes is no more than a creative day idea that is hoping to make big money just because it has “Fable” in the title. Basically, you travel through well known Fable areas in a bid to get a lot of gold.
Gameplay/Controls
Travelling throughout the Fable universe you will fight Hobbe, Hollowmen clock work enemies etc. The idea is that you get from A to B whilst collecting as much gold as possible. The gameplay is pretty slow to start off with but later speeds up once you have purchased new abilities.
A couple of the areas you will see are Bowerstone, Hobbe Cave and Aurora. These areas are easily recognisable and are quite fun to run around.
As a four player co-op experience Fable Heroes is pretty good. There is a huge amount of competition especially with the added “Good” and “Evil” chest that you can open in order to give your allies problems or help them in some way.
I say allies lightly because although you run around together you are competing. The person with the most gold at the end gets a nice bonus and wins.
Once each level has been completed you are sent to a board type game where you can roll a die and purchase new abilities and characters. This is a cool idea and works very well. At the end of each level there you have to choose 1 out of 2 paths to take, 1 will usually lead you to a boss and the other a mini game. These are also quite good and give you that extra competitive streak you might need in order to take the win.
Visuals
Visually Fable Heroes is pretty nice but nothing spectacular. Fable Heroes is very colourful and pretty but quite immature. I like the art design but this was clearly made for the family genre.
The music is great with bouncy, happy beats going on in the background and to be honest I think this is the best part of the game.
Overall
It was a great creative idea but feel that the art design and gameplay ignore the hardcore gamers. Give Fable Heroes a go and see what you think.
6/10
