Jeremy McGrath's Offroad Review

Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad is an offroad racing game brought to you by 2XLGames.

Arcade release racing games are in my opinion a little drifty and generally have crappy visuals. Jeremy McGrath’s offroad on the other hand clearly knew what it needed to do in order to compete with the retail racers currently on the market.

The menu is worth mentioning because it looks great and smooth.  You can see a Monster sponsored car and all the usual navigation icons are neatly placed out of the way.

You can play arcade mode, career mode or over Xbox live.  Personally I love the career mode.  Jeremy McGrath’s offroad career mode slowly introduces you to new races which are vehicle type locked. As you progress and complete each vehicle type career you move up to the next vehicle class which in turn offers more power and more fun.

Once you have completed each race which varies between a time trial, Vs race or a point to point race you are rewarded xp which allows you to upgrade your vehicle.  Handling, top speed, acceleration and braking each need attention if you are to come out above the rest.

Online mode offers the same style depth career mode has with regards to different vehicle types and types of races.  The only problem with online is no one is playing so it will be hard to get a fully filled lobby and bash into each other come the race.

Visually Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad is second to none when it comes to vehicle detail and landscape.  I was really shocked to see so much detail in so many different areas and really appreciate the effort that 2XL have put into the game.

1 thing that was a bit of a let down was the lack of areas.  You would often go and race the same area on more than occasion and although you might be in a different vehicle you still know what’s coming.  I would like to think that there could be DLC for new stages but only time will tell.

To be honest Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad does everything it should and more, especially for an arcade game.

If you love racing dirt buggies and ridiculously fast offroad machines then you will not want to miss this.
