Lego: Marvel Super Heroes Review

Lego: Marvel Super Heroes is the next step in the Lego universe and with a huge array of characters and an open world to explore; surely this is the best in the series… Not quite!

Lego: Marvel is your typical Lego game that we’ve seen for many years now, a huge amount of colourful characters and baddies to beat up but this time, Lego has failed in the story department.

The story is made up of various different scenarios that are trying to introduce the new characters and yes, it does it well but there isn’t anything exciting about it and it feels as though it is lacking. The settings are occasionally boring and the controls don’t make things any easier making Lego: Marvel quite annoying at times.

Lego: Marvel is open world New York City, allowing you to explore all of the famous locations. Sadly, exploring it is quite boring due to the city being filled with mundane tasks and silly races that fell like they had been thrown in for random game time but they add nothing. On top of this, the flight controls are horrible! Flying around as Iron Man is quite the task with the buttons being used for up-and-down movements and the analogue being used to move left and right. This is very confusing and not the easiest to do in an intricate manner which makes me wonder, would this be any good for the young children that the game is clearly focusing on? I’m not too sure.

Still lacking online co-op you will only be able to play on the couch. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing because as mentioned above, the game is mainly for children who will probably be playing with family members but for those of us that enjoy online co-op, we miss out… AGAIN!!! Hopefully this will be added in to the next Lego game because it has been a long time coming.

Lego: Marvel has a ton of replay ability for those that like to check out every corner of the map as well as gaining all of the achievements, but to be honest, I think one play through was enough for me.

Lego: Marvel is a good game but by no means the best in the series.

7/10
