Red Bull X Fighters Review

Sitting you on a powerful Motorcycle, Red Bull X Fighters is an international motocross event full of high jumps and crazy stunts but did it pull it off?

Starting off with gradual lessons, the game slowly gets you up to speed with what you are meant to be doing and how to do it.  Although this sounds easy, trust me it’s not!! The controls are simple when it comes to riding the bike but as soon as you want to throw down a trick or two things get ugly.  Occasionally having to press up to 5 buttons to do one of the 22 listed tricks, the controls feel uncomfortable and also unnatural.

This annoyed me very early on, not due to the difficulty but because I could not understand why any developer would take away the fun and throw in horrible, hard to use, frustrating controls.

Looking at the game (Before playing it) I thought “"Sweet, I love Trials HD”" and those of you that think this may be similar could not be more wrong.  The game is nowhere near as fluid and definitely feels clunky.

There are some nice locations for you to visit whilst getting arthritis from bad controls such as London, Rome, Moscow and Mexico City.  When I say nice what I mean is, I have seen nice pictures of these places and Red Bull X Fighters did not capture that.  The graphics are very basic and the ones you saw on your PS1 console many years ago.  I feel like they have thrown the game over from IOS and saying “"Take it or leave it”" instead of nicely placing it onto XBLA.

There is some re-playability for those that would like to go back and improve medals and times, but apart from that there is no multiplayer to keep the competition fresh.

Honestly, the game is horrible and would still be a joke price at 400msp.  Don’t waste your money on this XBLA game when you can grab it on IOS cheaper.

3/10
