Renegade Ops Review
Renegade Ops is an action packed twin stick top down shooter where You play as one of four renegades in a desperate attempt to stop the evil Inferno from gaining global domination.
Each player is equipped with a mounted machine as well as a special ability. Diz drives an armoured truck, Armand has a shielded APC, Roxy drives a buggy with the ability to call in airstrikes and Gunnar drives a jeep with a heavy machine gun attached to the roof.

You also have access to a secondary weapon that could be anything from a flame thrower to a rocket launcher, Your mounted machine gun can be upgraded by collecting blue pick ups that are sometimes dropped by enemies but if you die you will lose both the secondary weapon and your machine gun upgrades.
The story is set out like a comic book, giving you small snippets of info with a couple of pictures. This suits the game very much and I enjoyed it more than I would a video.
The locations are brilliant and the visuals outstanding. Set in places such as Africa, South America and on board a ship, there is a lot of variety to what you see. Glistening water, sand kicked up by your vehicle and pretty villages are a few of the great sights to be seen BUT….. You then see the explosions and wow they look good!!! The explosions and fire are some of the best I have seen in a game and look very realistic. This game is hugely based on blowing up pretty much everything you see you will get to see this delight often.
With RPG elements in the game you are rewarded upgrade points everytime you rank up. After each level you can spend you points to improve you health, secondary weapon or special ability. This is a nice touch and constantly gives you the sense of progression.
The controls work brilliantly! You drive with the left stick and shoot with the right stick. Special weapons are set to your left trigger and secondary to your right trigger. You can speed boost by holding down the A button and brake with the X button. The vehicles are really easy to control and altogether feel natural.
I encountered a couple of problems such as crashing and sound cut out but it was not enough to ruin the amount of fun I was having.
Renegade Ops is perfect for co operative play so it’s great that it was added. With up to 4 players rolling around blowing everything up this game does not get old and with leaderboards can get very competitive.
I have to put Renegade Ops in my top ten XBLA games and think everyone should own it
9/10
