Shoot Many Robots Review

Shoot Many Robots is a 2D side-scroller produced by Demiurge

Story

P Walter Tugnut is shocked when he finds out his truck and home have been destroyed by an overwhelming amount of robots.  He and his brothers decide to take revenge and go around in their RV in order to rid their homeland of the horrible machines.

That is pretty much the story and yes it sounds a bit plain but trust me, there is a load of fun to be had in this tongue in cheek crazy world.

Gameplay/Controls

Shoot Many Robots can be played alone or co-operatively either on or offline. SP is fun but if you really want this game to shine you have to play it in co-op.  Roaming the farms and streets together has never been so much fun.

The co-op side of the game is also competitive. At the end of the level it shows you who earned the most money and got the most kills which I like because I get to brag as well as make others jealous of the loot I have found.

Shoot Many Robots offers not only ridiculous amounts of crazy robots but looting too which I love.

On the odd occasion a robot will either drop a crate with an item inside that can be purchased later or a bag of nuts to give you a boost in your current earnings.  The nuts act as in-game currency which can be spent in the shop which is actually located in the shower of you RV.

Customization is crazy in this game.  You can find and purchase items that give you more beer (health replenish) the ability to slide and even the ability to fly… sort of.

Ranging from a pair of fairy wings to a space helmet you can be the laughing stock of your friends and vice versa.

On top of body customization you often find and can purchase guns etc.

The controls for Shoot Many Robots are laid out very well to the Xbox controller. At no point did I feel that the controls were affecting my slaying of robots.

Visuals

Shoot Many Robots has great visuals.  The setting is quite southern with a lot of hillbilly added. You will fight in farm towns, factories and built up streets so there are a few sites to see.

The characters are highly detailed as are the surroundings and overall the look feels right.

The colours are bright and clean and the game has that cel-shaded look that we don’t often get in games and I always welcome this.

Overall

If you haven’t guessed already, I love this game.

I cannot remember the last time I had this fun in a co-op game let alone getting the chance to loot and compete with friends.  You have to at least try the demo but buying outright would not be a mistake.

10/10
