Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Review
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is a 3d fighting game brought to you by Sega.
There are 17 fighters to choose from each with their own fighting style and combo set. As with most fighting games there are some huge combos. I order to pull these off you will need brilliant timing, a brilliant memory and perfect button co-ordination.
If you put the effort in to master one of the characters you will definitely be rewarded for your efforts when it comes to playing against any character both on and offline.
Virtua Fighter 5 looks great. The arenas glisten and the depth in the detail is second to none. The animations are spot on and there are even some cool environmental effects. Characters look nearly as good as they do on Virtua Fighter 5 and to be honest Sega have not gone wrong at all in the visuals department.
Quest mode is where the Virtua Fighter holds its heart. As you win you will tower the rankings and earn gold which you can use to unlock the dozens of accessories and outfits for your character.
Quest mode was my favourite type to play because of what I have mentioned above.
Online play is smooth and pretty good BUT…. It all boils down to whether you have put the time in to learn your character because if you haven’t you will find yourself very frustrated and losing any enjoyment you might have.
Overall Virtua Fighter is great in so many ways but for me it’s just another fighting game. I did enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown but after a while “Punch, Kick, Punch, Kick, Throw” gets boring and this means that for me it would be a waste of money.
Virtua Fighter is one of those fighting games that you have to put time into if you really want to get the most out of it. If you are a casual fan of the fighting genre this is not for you. 1200msp is a lot to ask if you will not make sure you get your monies worth.
7/10
