Who wants to be a millionaire review
Many of us would love the opportunity to sit in the famous "“Who wants to be a millionaire"” chair and thanks to Deep Silver your time has come.
"Who wants to be a millionaire" from Deep Silver is a game based on a tv show where you are given the chance to win £1,000,000 by answering 15 multiple choice questions correctly. You have 3 life lines should need them which are 50/50 where 2 wrong answers are taken from the board, phone a friend allowing you to call a friend or family member in hope that they know the answer and finally ask the audience, which allows the audience to pick one of the 4 answers and you just have to hope that the majority are right.
Right the game….. first off the game is simple when it comes to controls. Use your left analogue or D-Pad to select your answer and life lines and press A (green) to select it. Visually the game looks as it does on TV. There are bright lights at the start of the show and then when the game finally gets going the lights are dimmed. Music again is the same as it is on the show so nothing new there and finally the questions and layout of the show are the same also.
So far it is what you expect, a simple easy to follow game that is based on knowledge…. Simple.
What to expect from this game. The male host is annoying! He has HUGE hands and speaks too much. You have to listen to him open the show with all the usual rubbish and when I say listen I mean listen. You are unable to skip the host at anytime whilst playing the game which gives it a slow paced “"Oh come on just give me a question NOW"” feel. Whilst answering questions the host will again hold up your game and say silly one liners such as “"We don’t want to give you that"” and “"No problems so far"” even though you have only answered the first question which is always easy.
The next thing I want to mention are the life lines. 50/50 is great especially if you think you know the answer but just want that little extra confidence to click on it. Ask the audience is what you expect but so far when I have asked them they have always given the correct answer which is not the case with the TV show, but maybe they do feed you into the wrong path at times and finally you have phone a friend.
Phone a friend is the most annoying life line that I always dread using! I know you can’'t actually phone a friend but listening to a male "“umm"” and “"ahh”" which goes high pitched if he is right and low if he has not got a clue for up to 20 seconds is tedious.
Overall the game is great for those that like to answer questions and test their knowledge and with the addition of local multiplayer maybe there is a lot of in house fun to be had. You can also purchase special editions such as “South Park” and “Movies” but the standard edition of the game has the best questions in my opinion. I will continue to play the game but it’s a shame that the host cannot be skipped and the game goes at a very slow pace.
If you like question games and would like something that is a little faster, try the Scene it games but if you love the TV show and don’t mind a slower deeper game buy "Who wants to be a millionaire.
